Practice Profile:
Peter was admitted to the Bar in 1983.  Since 1983 Peter has appeared in all Courts and Tribunals in commercial cases, particularly in relation to property disputes, including sale of land, leases, easements and restrictive covenants, adverse possession and removal of caveats.  Prior to the creation of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal in 1998, Peter was instructed in more than a hundred retail leasing arbitrations and since 1998 has been instructed in numerous cases in the Retail Leases Division of VCAT including rental disputes, rent reviews, options to renew, outgoings disputes, evictions, assignments, construction of lease covenants, disputes relating to disclosure statements, injunctions, guarantees, unconscionability claims, equitable leases, estoppel, and trust claims.

Peter has a substantial advice and drafting practice in these areas.

Peter has written extensively in respect to property matters, including publications in the Law Institute Journal and the Australian Property Law Journal, the CCH, Victorian Conveyancing Service (landlord/tenant, mortgages, strata and cluster titles and remedies), Butterworths Victorian Pleadings and Precedents (sale of land, easements and restrictive covenants).  Peter has also lectured in all aspects of property matters.

Peter’s forthcoming book Termination of Commercial Leases, covering the law and remedies in all Australian jurisdictions, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, will be published by Thomson Reuters late in 2010.

Peter is the Past President of the Victorian Property Law Association and the Property and Probate Sub-Committee of the Commercial Bar Association.

Peter is an accredited mediator.
