Justin is an experienced advocate and is regularly briefed to appear and advise in significant commercial and corporate law matters, especially in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the Federal Court of Australia, at both trial and appellate levels. Justin is also a Nationally Accredited Mediator (NMAS) and has substantial experience in all forms of alternative dispute resolution.
Recent significant matters include disputes involving complex trust arrangements, contracts (interpretation and claims), partnerships, employment, insurance, property transactions, securities, land titles, caveats, covenants and easements, liquidations, receiverships, regulatory actions (ASIC, ACCC), fraud, urgent injunctions, tribunals, expert determinations, inquiries.
Before coming to the Bar, Justin practised in the commercial litigation group at Linklaters in London (2000 to 2003) where he was appointed as senior associate, and at Mallesons Stephen Jaques in Melbourne (1997 to 2000) where he undertook articles.
Upon coming to the Bar in 2003, Justin read with Matt Connock QC (now Connock J).
Justin is an Accredited Advocacy Instructor and he regularly presents at the Victorian Bar Readers’ Course and as part of the Bar’s CPD programme. He was the Chair of the Bar’s Readers’ Course Committee from 2021 to 2023.
