Renée Enbom KC practises in many areas of civil law and she has expertise in defamation, public inquiries and class actions.

Renée has appeared in many of the most significant defamation proceedings in Australia, including Rebel Wilson v Bauer Media, Christian Porter v ABC and Bruce Lehrmann v News Life Media Pty Ltd. In the 2022 edition of The Best Lawyers in Australia, Renée was awarded Lawyer of the Year by her peers in the areas of defamation and media law. She has also been recognised in Doyle’s Guide over many years in various areas of law.

Renée has appeared in most of the public inquiries in Victoria over the last decade. She appeared for Victoria Police, former Chief Commissioners Christine Nixon and Ken Lay and individual police members in the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants. She has also acted for clients in the Yoorrook Justice Commission and in the Royal Commissions into the following: defence and veteran suicide; violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of people with disability; misconduct in the banking, superannuation and financial services industry; and the Black Saturday bushfires.

Renée’s class action experience includes appearing for the State Victoria and individual Ministers in the Hotel Quarantine class action and appearing in the Roo-Roofing (the Commonwealth’s home insulation program), Murrindindi bushfires, Centro, GPT, Newcrest, Korean Air Lines and MLC class actions.

Renée is currently the Deputy Chairperson of the AFL Tribunal. Prior to her appointment to the Tribunal, Renée appeared for the AFL in anti-doping matters, including in the Essendon Football Club matter.
