Alissa practises in commercial law, insolvency and public law, and accepts briefs in other areas.
Before joining the Bar, Alissa was a Judicial Registrar of the Federal Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. Prior to the Judicial Registrar role, Alissa held roles as a Senior Associate at Clayton Utz and at the Department of Premier and Cabinet in Victoria.
As a Judicial Registrar, Alissa presided over contested and uncontested corporate and personal insolvency matters, employment matters, subpoena matters, and general case management.
Alissa worked at Clayton Utz for 10 years, in the general commercial, restructuring & insolvency, and public law teams. She acted for external administrators and financial institutions in litigious and non-litigious corporate insolvencies and receiverships, and in general commercial litigation for clients including a multinational mining company, large retailer and a university. She also acted in judicial review applications for government decision makers.
At DPC, Alissa managed the public law team in the Office of the General Counsel. She briefed and advised stakeholders including the Premier, the Special Minister of State, the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, and the Secretary of the Department, in matters spanning constitutional law, administrative law, privacy, freedom of information and orders for production to Parliament. Alissa also assisted the Department and stakeholders in the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System, the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants, and the Hotel Quarantine Inquiry.
Alissa holds a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Laws, and an Advanced Certificate in Insolvency. She is also a nationally-accredited mediator.
