The Members and staff of List A congratulate Stephen Parmenter S.C, Claire Harris S.C., Lisa Nichols S.C and Lisa De Ferrari S.C. on their appointments as Senior Counsel on 23 November 2017.
Stephen practises in the Supreme and Federal Courts in most areas of commercial law. His particular areas of interest include competition, conflict of laws, contracts, corporations, equity and trusts, joint ventures, mining, energy and resources and restitution. He joined List A on signing the Bar Roll in 2001.
Claire has practised in commercial law and public law, appearing in the High Court, Supreme Court, Federal Court and County Court. She has a regulatory and advisory practice, including in the areas of insurance law and public law, particularly administrative law, judicial review and human rights. Claire also appears in inquests. She joined List A on signing the Bar Roll in 2003.
Lisa Nichols has been a commercial litigator since 1998 and has a diverse practice with a focus on commercial law and trade practices. She frequently acts for government clients including regulators. She has extensive experience in class actions and has appeared in many complex multi-party actions involving corporations, insurance and insolvency disputes and environmental and tort claims. She joined List A on signing the Bar Roll in 2007.
Lisa De Ferrari practises in public law, commercial law and common law (major torts list, class actions and defamation). Lisa has appeared in a number of cases in the High Court, involving issues of constitutional and administrative law, intellectual property law, conflict of laws, directors’ duties and the law of charities. Lisa has also appeared in many other cases in the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Victoria. She joined List A on signing the Bar Roll in 2002.
