VICKI BELL

Vicki practises primarily in corporate and commercial law.  Her key experience includes restructuring and insolvency, class actions, contractual disputes and regulatory investigations and proceedings.

Before coming to the Bar, Vicki gained experience as a solicitor at Arnold Bloch Leibler and Minter Ellison.  Most recently she was a Special Counsel with Gilbert +Tobin in Sydney.

Vicki is a Fellow of INSOL International and has a particular interest in cross-border insolvencies and disputes.

Vicki is reading with Oren Bigos. Her senior mentor is Penny Neskovcin QC.

ALEXIA STAKER

Before coming to the Bar, Alexia was a Senior Legal Adviser in the Office of the General Counsel at the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Victoria. She advised on matters concerning constitutional law, statutory interpretation, public inquiries and Victoria’s integrity regime. In 2015 she was seconded to the Royal Commission into Family Violence.

Before joining DPC, Alexia was Senior Associate to the Honourable Justice Maxwell AC, President of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Victoria.  Alexia has also worked at the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission and the Victorian Law Reform Commission. She completed her legal traineeship at Baker & McKenzie.

In the UK, Alexia worked at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law and at ClientEarth, a European environmental law NGO, where she led a project on directors’ liability for climate change-related financial risk.

JORDAN WRIGHT

Jordan has substantial experience in commercial and administrative law and in particular, planning and environment, telecommunications, land access, building and construction law.

As a solicitor, Jordan acted for and advised clients in both the private and government sectors about planning and environment matters (merits and judicial review), utilities regulation, regulatory processes, and general commercial matters.

Prior to joining the Bar, Jordan was a Senior Associate in the Corporate Projects (Utilities, Planning and Environment) team at Ashurst in Melbourne.

Jordan is reading with Marita Foley. His senior mentors are Jeremy Gobbo QC and Susan Brennan SC.

DOUG PORTEOUS

Doug practises in commercial and public law.

Before joining the Bar, Doug was an Associate to the Honourable Justice Elliott at the Supreme Court of Victoria.  He assisted His Honour with proceedings including contractual, partnership and joint venture disputes, directors’ duties, solicitors’ duties and misleading and deceptive conduct.  He was involved in all stages of proceedings, including directions hearings, interlocutory applications, trials and urgent matters.

Doug was also a solicitor at King & Wood Mallesons, working primarily in state and federal taxation disputes. He was involved in litigation in the Supreme Courts of Victoria and New South Wales, the Federal Court and the High Court of Australia.
