John is available for Arbitrations, Commissions and Private Inquiries, Expert Determinations and Special References from the courts, and neutral valuations, in civil proceedings.
John was called to the Bar in 1981 and took silk in 2007, practising initially in crime but then mostly in commercial, insurance, construction, and corporations law.
In 2010, he was appointed to the Supreme Court of Victoria, assigned to the Common Law Division and from 2019 was the Principal Judge of the Division. He was the judge in charge of the Major Torts List and the co-judge in charge of the Group Proceedings List. Over 13 years, he sat in all divisions of the court, including the Criminal Division and the Court of Appeal. He retired from the Court in September 2023.
