David Batt KC

About David

Appointed Senior Counsel in 2010 at the age of 41, David is widely regarded as one of Victoria’s foremost commercial silks.

He is regularly briefed in high-profile and complex matters across Australia, with a broad practice spanning contractual disputes, class actions, corporations matters, constitutional and public law, equity and trusts, taxation, resources and infrastructure litigation, and matters involving compulsory acquisition and valuation. Large-scale commercial trials and appeals form the core of his practice.

David appears in the High Court of Australia, the Federal Court, and the Supreme Courts of Victoria and other States.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne (1991) and a Master of Laws with First Class Honours from the University of Cambridge (1996).
