About Jeffery

Jeff is an experienced commercial barrister with a strong focus on domestic and international arbitration.

He is a Grade 1 Accredited Arbitrator and regularly acts as both arbitrator and counsel in complex commercial disputes, including those arising in the insurance, construction, and sports industries. Jeff has been appointed single arbitrator and as a member of an arbitral panel.

In addition to his arbitration practice, Jeff appears in trial and appellate courts across Australia, particularly in the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Court. He is also an accredited mediator, bringing extensive dispute resolution expertise to all stages of commercial conflict.

Jeff’s arbitration work spans both institutional and ad hoc proceedings, involving major commercial contracts, infrastructure projects, and professional conduct matters. His deep sectoral knowledge in insurance and sport informs his ability to manage highly specialised disputes efficiently and effectively.

Before coming to the Bar, Jeff practised with Theodore Goddard (London) and Corrs Chambers Westgarth, following his articles at Maddock Lonie & Chisholm.

He currently serves as Chairman of the Sports Law Committee of the Commercial Bar Association of the Victorian Bar. Jeff is also Chairman of the AFL Tribunal, Conduct Commissioner for Cricket Australia, and acts regularly as counsel for Racing Victoria.
