Alexia Staker practises in commercial and public law.

Before coming to the Bar, Alexia was a Senior Legal Adviser in the Office of the General Counsel at the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC), Victoria. She advised on matters concerning constitutional law, statutory interpretation, public inquiries and Victoria’s integrity regime. In 2015 she was seconded to the Royal Commission into Family Violence.

Before joining DPC, Alexia was Senior Associate to the Honourable Justice Maxwell AC, President of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Victoria.  Alexia has also worked at the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission and the Victorian Law Reform Commission. She completed her legal traineeship at Baker & McKenzie.

In the UK, Alexia worked at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law and at ClientEarth, a European environmental law NGO, where she led a project on directors’ liability for climate change-related financial risk.

Alexia is reading with Paul Liondas.​ Her senior mentor is Rowena Orr QC.
