Renée Enbom KC has a broad and extensive practice. She appears and advises in all areas of commercial, media and sports law. Renee also has significant experience in class actions and Royal Commissions.

Renée was awarded Lawyer of the Year by her peers in the areas of defamation and media law in the 2022 edition of The Best Lawyers in Australia. She has also been recognised in Doyle’s Guide over many years. Renée’s more recent defamation matters include:

• Bruce Lehrmann v News Life Media Pty Ltd and Sam Maiden – counsel for News and Ms Maiden.

• Christian Porter v ABC and Louise Milligan – counsel for the ABC and Ms Milligan.

• Rebel Wilson v Bauer Media – counsel for Ms Wilson.

• Daniel Johns v Nationwide News – counsel for Mr Johns.

• Grant Denyer v Are Media – counsel for Mr Denyer.

As to Royal Commission work, Renee appeared for Victoria Police, former Chief Commissioners Christine Nixon and Ken Lay and individual police members in the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants. She was also briefed in the Bushfires, Financial Services, Disability and Yoorrook inquiries.

As to class action proceedings, Renée is currently counsel for the State of Victoria and individual Ministers in the Hotel Quarantine class action. She also appeared in the following class actions: Roo-Roofing (the Commonwealth’s home insulation program); Murrindindi bushfires; the Centro, GPT and Newcrest shareholder actions; Korean Air Lines (cartel claim); and Clark v MLC (credit card insurance).

Renée is currently the Deputy Chairperson of the AFL Tribunal.

Prior to her appointment to the Tribunal, Renée regularly appeared as AFL Counsel before the Tribunal and appeared in anti-doping matters, including the action against Essendon Football Club players and Stephen Dank.
