The Members and staff of List A congratulate Helen Tiplady SC on her appointment by the Honourable Chief Justice Niall as Senior Counsel effective today (29 October 2026).
Helen has a broad commercial practice, appearing and advising in complex disputes, including contractual, class actions, trade practices, insurance and professional negligence matters. Helen has also appeared in both international and domestic commercial arbitrations, particularly in the construction and resources sectors.
In addition to her commercial practice, Helen has extensive experience in Royal Commissions and Inquiries, appearing led and unled in numerous State and Commonwealth Royal Commissions.
Helen practised at the Western Australian Bar between 2016 and 2018.
Before coming to the Bar, Helen was an Associate to the Honourable Justice Jessup in the Federal Court of Australia. Helen also practised in private practice in Melbourne and London, and in-house in London. Helen holds a first-class honours degree in law from Monash University.
