The members and staff at List A Barristers congratulate the Honourable Justice Simon Steward on the announcement today of his appointment as a Justice of the High Court of Australia.
Justice Steward was first admitted to practice in 1992, signed the Bar Roll in 1999 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2009. He was a member of List A Barristers from 2001 until he was appointed a judge of the Federal Court of Australia in 2018. Prior to that appointment, Justice Steward practised in all Australian jurisdictions, specializing in taxation law.
His Honour’s appointment to the High Court will commence from 1 December 2020 on the retirement of the Honourable Justice Geoffrey Nettle AC.
