The members and staff at List A Barristers congratulate Michael O’Bryan QC on his appointment to the Federal Court of Australia on 22 February 2019.

Michael commences in the Melbourne Registry on Tuesday 26 February 2019.

Michael came to the Bar in 2002 following a decade as a partner at Minter Ellison practising in the areas of competition and consumer law.  In his distinguished career at the Bar, Michael has continued to practice in those areas. He was appointed Silk in 2011.

Michael was a member of the panel appointed by the Commonwealth Government in 2014 to conduct a review of Australia’s competition laws and policy (now known as the Harper Review), which resulted in the recent enactment of the Competition and Consumer (Competition Policy Review) Act 2017.  Until his appointment Michael was a member and past chairman of the Competition and Consumer Committee of the Law Council of Australia.
