Today marks 50 years since List A member Maurice Phipps QC signed the Bar Roll on 3 February 1972. Maurice was one of the original List A members and was appointed Silk in November 1990. Maurice returned to the Bar after retiring as a Federal Circuit Court judge in November 2016 after 16 years, where he sat in the family law jurisdiction. Maurice is a nationally accredited mediator and an accredited family dispute resolution practitioner.
Maurice joins Ken Hayne AC QC who is the only other current List A member who has celebrated 50 years since signing the Bar Roll.
