Lucy practises in public and commercial law.
She also accepts briefs in employment and industrial law.
Before coming to the Bar, Lucy was a senior lawyer in the In-House Counsel and Civil Regulation teams at the Australian Government Solicitor, where she appeared for and advised Commonwealth clients in a diverse range of matters. Lucy was seconded to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and acted for the Commonwealth in the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.
Prior to this, Lucy was an Associate to the Hon Justice Middleton AM of the Federal Court of Australia and a solicitor in the Ashurst employment team.
Lucy holds a Master of Philosophy in Law from the University of Oxford where she was a St Catherine’s College Graduate Scholar in Law and completed a thesis on the role of statutes in the conflict of laws. She also holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney.
Lucy is reading with Anna Lord. Her senior mentor is Tamieka Spencer-Bruce SC.

- ASIC v SunshineLoans Pty Ltd (2025) 308 FCR 514 acting for the regulator in appeal against recusal for apprehended bias and the subsequent application for special leave to appeal to the High Court: Sunshine Loans Pty Ltd v ASIC [2025] HCADisp 141 — led by Tim Begbie KC.
- Commonwealth v United Workers’ Union [2025] FWC 603 (27 February 2025): acting for the Commonwealth in urgent application to suspend or terminate protected industrial action — led by Chris O’Grady KC.
- Minister for the Environment and Water v Northern Seafoods Pty Ltd [2025] FCA 116 (25 February 2025): acting for the Minister in civil penalty proceeding alleging breaches of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cth) — unled.
