New readers April 2026

We are thrilled to announce that Alice Lloyd and Houston Ash have joined List A Barristers following their successful completion of the Readers’ Course and admission to the Roll of the Victorian Bar.

All members of List A Barristers extend a warm welcome to our new Readers as they embark on this exciting new chapter in their legal careers.

Alice Lloyd

Before coming to the Bar, Alice was a senior lawyer in the Office of General Counsel team at the Australian Government Solicitor, where she advised on questions of constitutional law, statutory interpretation, and administrative decision-making.

Prior to this, Alice was a solicitor in Mallesons’ commercial dispute resolution team, and an Associate to the Hon Justice O’Bryan of the Federal Court of Australia.

Alice holds a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from the Australian National University.

Alice is reading with Anna Lord. Her senior mentor is Kathleen Foley SC.

Houston Ash

Before coming to the Bar, Houston was senior legal adviser to the Prime Minister. He has also served as a senior adviser to the Commonwealth Attorney-General and practised as a solicitor at Allens, where he worked in disputes and banking and finance.

Houston is reading with Fiona Batten. His senior mentor is David Batt KC.
